Description:
SIZE:
The
Ranch is offered in three contiguous main blocks with various ownerships.
Total size of 21,715 acres of which 20,315 acres are deeded and 1,400
acres are leases from the Bureau of Land Management. This 1,400 acres
is in 40 to 80-acre parcels scattered throughout the Ranch. This is one
of the few ranches in the West that the Government does not have any say
in the grazing or control of the ranch.
The
main units of the Ranch are as follows:
- TLC Wildlife Unit
(Unit 1) consists of a 10,967-deeded acre contiguous parcel. Current
ownership is TLC Wildlife Ranches et al. This parcel has approximately
3/4ths of a mile of frontage along the North Fork of the John Day River.
It also contains an approximate additional 560 acres of BLM lands and
has almost 4 miles of its Northern Boundary that fronts BLM or National
Forest Boundaries. The Western Boundary of this unit is Little Wall
Creek and this entire unit lies to the east of this unit.
- Brigs Brothers
Unit (Unit 2) consisting of 1,966 acres. It is located in the Northeast
corner of the ranch and has frontage to the Umatilla National Forest
on part of the Northern border of the property. Ditch Creek, Straw Creek
and Canyon Graves Creeks flow through the property. It also has views
of the North Fork of the John Day River, but does not have any frontage
along the river. This unit also contains one, 40-acre BLM parcel and
additional privately owned 40 parcel within its boundaries. The 40-acre
privately owned parcel does NOT have any access through this unit.
- The Headquarters
Unit (Unit 3) of the JV Ranch is owned by High Lonesome Land and Wildlife
Company. The approximately 7,382 + deeded acre unit lies west of the
Little Wall Creek and includes two older ranch houses and two guest
cabins. This unit also contains approximately 760 acres of BLM lands
shattered throughout the property.
- John Day River
Hunting Camp. (Unit 4) This property consists of 80 acres with the John
Day River bisecting the property into approximately 30 acres on the
north side of the river and approximately 50 acres on the south side
of the river. Improvements on the north side consist of a 16 x 20 cabin
and an older horse barn. This property is virtually one of a kind because
of the proximity to the river and that the improvements are existing
and it generally takes a 160 acres minimum acre tax parcel to get a
building permit. Ownership of this property is combined between the
TLC and High Lonesome Companies.
